Position Vacant: Swimming Pool Service Technician

Position: Swimming Pool Service Technician
Location:  Coolalinga- Northern Territory
Responsible to:  Managing Director
Employment Conditions:  Full time after a probationary period

Special Considerations:

Position requires frequent driving within the Rural and Darwin area. Current NT Class C (minimum) drivers licence and the ability to maintain that licence. All vehicles supplied by Crystal Pools are fully equipped with satellite tracking and navigation devices in accordance with our Occupation, Health and Safety policy. Crystal Pools is a non smoking organisation including all supplied motor vehicles’.

Role Profile:

Crystal Pools has been servicing the Coolalinga region (and beyond) for fourteen years, our uniqueness is knowledge of swimming pool maintenance and diagnostics.  Providing our clients with a healthful swimming environment.
The Swimming Pool Service Technician works autonomously and as part of team, providing knowledge and service support to our valued clients. The position will be clear in both oral and written communication, have the ability to diagnose swimming pool and water testing and well as pool filtering and equipment maintenance in accordance with the policy and procedure of the company.  Reporting weekly to the Managing Director you will provide a written status report of the client’s services and any opportunity for extended services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of the company motor vehicle
  • Weekly reporting to the Managing Director Responsible for work schedule and priorities
  • Responsible for accurate water testing and maintenance of filtering equipment
  • Development and implementation of client service and communication
  • Responsible for all repair work to swimming pools and associated equipment within client set
  • Responsible for record keeping and follow up with client set
  • Excellent time management skill.

Area of Responsibility:

  • Water Testing: Nasty organisms in swimming pool water can make people sick. It is imperative that the technician checks and corrects chemical levels as part of the service, recognising the various contaminants, such as algae or insect larvae, and be able to rid of them.
  • Maintaining Pool Filtering Equipment: Mechanical knowledge of the working parts of water pumps, chemical dispenser systems, backflows valves and chlorinators is an essential task function in servicing. You must have the ability to monitor and diagnose these systems and then obtain replacement parts and perform repairs as needed. There should be a minimal knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems. The technician must be well acquainted with installation and repair procedures and have the physical strength to carry equipment and parts.
  • Record Keeping:  The Technician will use the company provided log book (which remains company property) of the work performed, repairs made and chemical levels at each visit, including date and location, as well any other observations that maybe essential to the business conducted with emphasis in the OHS aspects of the job.
  • Communicating:  Swimming Pool owners must be able to communicate issues and comments to whoever maintains their pool and visa versa. In turn, the technician must be able to follow their instructions, be supportive that they may not know what you know, or that they may think they know what you do and more. Recording and implementation of instructions is essential, some days will require greater patience than others.

Selection Criteria, Essential:

  • Relevant extensive industry experience in swimming pools and/or associated industry
  • Demonstrated effective time management, project management and organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated skills in dealing with competing and conflicting deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to provide service through innovation and research
  • Highly developed oral and written English skills
  • Highly developed communication skills across various mediums including telephone, mobile devises, email and oral communication.
  • Skilled in the use of word processing and document development
  • Developed skills in using workplace mathematical equations

Selection Criteria, Desirable:

  • At least two years of working with or within the swimming pool/chemical/labour industry
  • Qualification in water chemistry
